SEBI extends the digital-accessibility compliance deadline to 31 January 2027

Good news for Research Analysts and Investment Advisers: SEBI has extended the timeline for complying with its digital accessibility (RPwD Act, 2016) circulars. The deadline to appoint an IAAP auditor, conduct the accessibility audit of your digital platforms, and remediate the findings is now 31 January 2027 — it was earlier due around 31 October 2026.

31 Jan 2027New deadline — appoint the IAAP auditor, conduct the accessibility audit, and remediate the audit findings by this date.
Applies toAll SEBI-regulated entities, including RAs (via RAASB) and IAs (via IAASB).
UnchangedAll other provisions of the accessibility circulars remain in force and must still be complied with.
Basis: SEBI Circular HO/53/12/13(2)2026-ITD5-M2IPC/I/24856/2026, dated 30 October 2026 — “Extension of timeline with respect to compliance of Digital Accessibility Circulars”.
Builds on: SEBI’s earlier digital-accessibility circulars (31 Jul 2025, 29 Aug 2025, 25 Sep 2025, 8 Dec 2025 and 31 Jul 2026) under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016.

What exactly was extended

SEBI granted the extension only for the following three steps, now due by 31 January 2027:

  • Appointment of an IAAP auditor — an accessibility professional certified by the International Association of Accessibility Professionals (IAAP).
  • Conduct of the accessibility audit of your digital platforms (your website and/or app).
  • Remediation of the findings from that audit — i.e. fixing the accessibility gaps the audit identifies.

SEBI granted this after representations from regulated entities and a review of the compliance status. Everything else in the accessibility circulars stays the same.

What you should do now

  • Use the extra time to get your website/app audited and fixed properly — don’t leave it to the last week.
  • Make sure your digital platform works toward WCAG conformance (keyboard navigation, alt text, colour contrast, labels, etc.).
  • Keep records of the auditor appointment, the audit report and the remediation — the same way you keep your other compliance evidence.
